Important Safety Reminder Regarding Online Challenges We want to make you aware of a concerning social media challenge currently circulating on TikTok that encourages students to insert objects into USB ports — such as those on Chromebooks — in an attempt to start a fire. This behavior poses serious safety risks to students and others and can cause significant damage to school property.
We ask that you speak with your student(s) about the dangers of participating in online challenges that promote unsafe or destructive behavior. Actions like this not only put individuals at risk but may also result in financial responsibility for damages.
Per District Policy 3520: Student Fees, Fines, or Charges, families are responsible for replacing materials or property lost or damaged due to negligence. Your partnership in reinforcing safe and responsible technology use is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your school administration. Thank you for your support in keeping our students and schools safe. |

Drills In May we conducted a lockdown drill and practiced what we would do if there was an intruder in the building. Students learned about the importance of listening to school staff and following instructions quickly and quietly. We also practiced assessing our environment and making decisions to keep us safe.
Please remember that a lockdown is considered a preventative measure and is not the same as an Active Threat.

In June we will practice a Lock-Out Drill
A lockout is different from a lockdown. A lockout is used when there is no direct danger to the school, but there may be something potentially dangerous in the area around the school. For example, if a bear was spotted in the neighborhood or if there was police activity near the school.
During a lockout, students are brought inside and all exterior doors are locked. Inside, classes continue, but staff maintain a heightened level of awareness in case there is a change in the situation.
