Thank you for your support during Staff Appreciation Week—we truly felt the love! As the school year wraps up, we’d love to thank you in return.

As a proactive support, for April and May, we started to use a special phoenix ticket to encourage students to practice the Big Three behavior expectation. We will continue to use special and the regular Phoenix Tickets and positive reinforcements to support our students' growth and spotlight their efforts and progress vs. achievement. We hope you can continue to celebrate their amazing progress at home but not just the outcome/achievement and provide positive reinforcement as well.

Screen time and privacy controls can be a daunting task for parents. We know screen time before bed can interrupt the sleep cycle because the blue light emitted from screens tricks the brain into thinking it’s still daytime. Research says to limit screen time to at least 30 minutes before going to bed as well as limiting overall screen time in the evening. Common Sense Media has many resources targeted to what you may be need support with when it comes to screen time tips and parental controls. This includes parental controls for different gaming systems and online platforms.

• • Find a relaxing activity before bed that doesn’t involve screens (reading, puzzles, drawing/art). This is also a good opportunity to check in with your student about their day and how they are feeling.
  • Give yourself at least 20-30 minutes to get ready for bed before going to sleep.
  • Stick with a bedtime routine that makes the most sense for your family and try to keep it consistent.

Student Technology Collection Spring 2026 

The BSD Technology Services department will be collecting district devices for annual maintenance and reimaging. Find out what to do before the start of summer vacation: 

Learn more about the specific requirements and drop-off options for each group. 

• • Elementary - Return ALL the elementary laptops and iPads to your school by Friday, June 12. 
  • Secondary 
    • Grades 8 and 12 – Return laptops, chargers and styluses by your school’s turn-in day. 
    • Grades 6-11 – Return laptops and styluses by your school’s turn-in day. Keep chargers in a safe place over the summer. 
  • Running Start – Return laptops to the BSD Helpdesk after finals. 
  • Bellevue Digital Discovery – No action needed. Laptops will not be collected this year. 
  • Students Needing Laptops for Summer – Pick up a laptop from the Wilburton Instructional Service Center starting in July.

Our school is participating in Bellevue SchoolPool’s Walk, Bike & Roll to School campaign during the week of May 4-10! 

Bellevue SchoolPool is a program that encourages families and students to explore sustainable transportation options for their commute to and from school and alleviate congestion at drop-off and pickup times and locations. During the campaign, students and families are encouraged to walk, bike, carpool or take the bus to and/or from school. 

SchoolPool also provides students with a scavenger hunt flyer and small, fun items for all students.

Fire Drills

          In april, we had our Fire Drill.  Washington state law and Bellevue School District policy require all schools to hold at least one drill per calendar month while school is in session. This month, we will be conducting a fire drill and practicing evacuating the building and accounting for everyone.
           During a fire evacuation, students are taught to quickly and quietly exit the building. They meet on the field at an assigned location and stay silent while attendance is taken to ensure all people have safely evacuated.

         Please talk with your student about preparing for emergencies and disasters such as fires. Encourage them to talk about their concerns and express their feelings. Emphasize that even though sometimes things happen that we may not expect, there are lots of things we can do to help us stay safe.

Lockdown Drill

In May, we will be conducting a lockdown drill and practicing actions to help keep us safe in the event of a threat or intruder.

During a lockdown drill, students learn about the importance of listening to school staff and following instructions quickly and quietly.

Lockdown is initiated when there is a threat to the campus or school. All threats are taken seriously. In the interest of student safety, a lockdown may be initiated while the nature of the threat is evaluated. Staff are trained to lock classroom doors, shut off the lights, close the blinds, and to continually assess the situation.

Please talk with your student about preparing for emergencies and disasters. Encourage them to talk about their concerns and express their feelings. Emphasize that even though sometimes things happen that we may not expect, there are lots of things we can do to help us stay safe.

Camp Jubilee Registration
 

It’s almost summertime to sign up for Camp Jubilee! Jubilee REACH invites all rising 6th and 7th graders to join us 7/6–8/6. Choose a morning (9:30–11:30 am) or afternoon (1:30–3:30 pm) session on Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs.

Camp offerings include arts & crafts, basketball, board games, field games, improv, soccer, and volleyball. Offerings vary by day/time—check the registration link for details. Best of all—it’s free, but spots are limited!
